Support & Training

One of our main training requirements is that all of our potential foster carers have to attend a 2-day Skills to Foster Course. This will give you the opportunity to explore whether fostering is right for you and your family. You will also get to meet and hear from experienced foster carers and young people.

Once registered, there is an expectation that you attend and complete the Training, Support and Development Standards for Foster Carers within 12 months of approval.

We know that to take great care of children, you need great support. That’s why we provide face to face training to give you the skills and confidence you need to be a fantastic foster carer.

Monthly training sessions are run by our own psychologist, who brings expert knowledge and practical advice, helping you understand how to best support the children in your care.

These sessions are great for learning together, asking questions, and meeting other foster carers to share stories.

In addition to our face to face training workshops, we offer a huge range of online fostering courses via the Vocational Training Hub, as well as access to recordings of previously held training sessions

These cover a number of topics to help our foster carers fit their training around family life. We understand that people cannot always attend face to face so we want to ensure you can learn at a time and a pace that works for you.
